Capital of roses Tabacundo

«That they recognize it as a record or as a new brand, but our effort deserves it», said yesterday Frank Boris Gualsaqui, mayor of Pedro Moncayo, about the flower arrangement that hoped to be recognized as the largest in the world.

The representatives of the Record Guiness brand arrived yesterday in the northern canton of Pichincha to homologate the pyramid of flowers that was erected in the Plazoleta de la Banda: a structure 780 meters (m) long and 4.9 m high, in which 660,000 roses were occupied.

Gualsaqui mentioned that the purpose of the initiative is to establish Tabacundo, the cantonal capital of Pedro Moncayo, as the world capital of the rose and, above all, to promote tourism in that part of the country.

“As a result of this there will be a before and after. We want to take advantage of this potential to institutionalize an annual event such as the World’s Rose Fair, that Tabacundo is the fairground, that an arrangement is made in each neighborhood … And incidentally, promote the other attractions of the canton, such as the Mojanda lagoon , the Archaeological Park of Cochasquí … ”.
